The DB Band was formed in 2017. I had been playing with FOG Reunion since 2001. We were playing summer shows and played some FOG original songs on our setlist. I had a backlog of songs and was writing more since my retirement from the "real" workforce in 2015. I started realizing that I wanted to inject more of my original stuff into these shows.

Drummer Mark Sorbara from FOG and Todd Slabaugh, brother of my friend Tim Slabaugh from Dapplegrim Days were asked to play some original songs with me and helped bring them to completion. We started rehearsing and before long had enough material for at least two albums. It was then decided we would be a band and perform these songs openining up for FOG. In 2017 we opened a FOG set at Dog Days in Kent, Ohio, and have been going strong ever since. Big DB. 4:41 and After Hours are all a result of the work the DB Band has done -rehearsing and recording my original material since 2018.

We are currently editing, mixing and mastering new material to be titled “New Moon”. It includes eleven original Dick Bowling songs that range from rock, blues, country and pop genres. It’s hard to explain what working on these songs with these guys has been like. Everything is focused on the music with all egos left behind. This is something I have wanted to do all of my life.

Here’s hoping the DB Band will continue to create good music and be able to present it once in a while to all of our friends and fans!
